Creating Gifts of Writing

Due to the snow and the delayed opening, I only had seven of my students today. Kate had five. Hence, we brought our kids together.

Luckily the art supplies from Blick arrived yesterday. Hence, we were able to ‘open up’ the Writing Gift Center this afternoon. Since some of Kate’s students weren’t familiar with this concept and hadn’t been working on pieces of writing to give as gifts, I brought out my quote books and let them find quotations they loved and wanted to infuse into an artistic creation for a family member/friend. And, oh, what beautiful pieces these kids ALL created with paper, markers, ribbons, paper punches, funky scissors, and stickers. I’m thinking of color copying all of the writing gifts they create so I can preserve the special momentos they crafted (and will then subsequently share them with future classes).
