The NY Times published an article entitled, “An Initiative on Reading Is Rated Ineffective” today. Not exactly a shocker most of us literacy educators, but perhaps shocking to others who haven’t followed this part of the NCLB Legislation that closely.

Here’s an original for Poetry Friday (held at Big A little a).
Tonight we danced –
No music
No dance floor
No heels
We danced through the ritual
of bedtime
Each knowing the moves
Each adjusting to the ever-changing rhythm
Catching a brief glance
of him
over a child’s head
And my heart swooned
All over again.
