Poetry Friday: A Carl Sandburg Poem

This week Kelly Fineman is hosting Poetry Friday.

Even though it’s pretty hot and sticky outside during the day, there’s something wonderful about the summer nights we’ve been having. The following poem, by Carl Sandburg, is just lovely. I hope you enjoy it as much as I like it.

Summer Stars
by Carl Sandburg

BEND low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.
