  1. For the past month or so, I have been mulling over Slice of Life Stories while reading all the inspiring blog posts. I am ready to give it a go and so are my fourth graders. We wrote our first slices today and the results were encouraging. I am constantly looking for ways to make the writing experiences for my students more meaningful. We often learn from our favorite writers and mentor texts as we read like writers. Thank you for mentoring me!

  2. I’m sooooooooooooooo in! And I’m inviting my second graders to participate, but at a smaller scale…I’m excited for their weekly challenges rather than a month long. We’re going to go week by week and then have a celebration at the end if they wrote more than a certain number of slices. I’ll try to not miss a slice this year!
