SOLSC: Today’s Challenge and Prizes for the Month-Long Challenge
It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for the weekly Slice of Life Story Challenge!
The Third Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge, which will run from Monday, March 1st – Wednesday, March 31st, begins in just a few days. Anyone who writes (and links to their posts by leaving a comment on this blog daily) for the entire month of March will be entered into a drawing for one of 12 prizes.
Take a look at the fabulous prizes that have been donated. Please click on any of the images to go directly to the website for the blog, book, or publisher that’s being mentioned:

A copy of Tastes Like Chocolate: Thoughts from Young People, which is a collection of children's poetry by Randi Allison.

Cinco Puntos Press is celebrating their 25th anniversary (1985-2010) this year and is donating a gift certificate for two books of the winner's choosing.

Motherhood Muse, a NEW digital quarterly literary magazine, features creative essays, short stories, poetry, artwork, columns and more on motherhood, children, and nature. They're giving away five 2010 subscriptions to five different SOLSC winners.

Simon & Schuster, Inc. will provide one winner with three books by D. James Smith, Kekla Magoon, & Andrew Clements.

Morning Slicers,
I’m off to Aruba in 45 minutes. Enough with the SSR(snow, sleet…)
Have a great week and I’ll be back to get slicing into March

I’m sooooooooooooooo in! And I’m inviting my second graders to participate, but at a smaller scale…I’m excited for their weekly challenges rather than a month long. We’re going to go week by week and then have a celebration at the end if they wrote more than a certain number of slices. I’ll try to not miss a slice this year!
goodbye February slices – hello March challenge!

Jaimee and I are looking forward to participating in SOL for our 3rd time!
For the past month or so, I have been mulling over Slice of Life Stories while reading all the inspiring blog posts. I am ready to give it a go and so are my fourth graders. We wrote our first slices today and the results were encouraging. I am constantly looking for ways to make the writing experiences for my students more meaningful. We often learn from our favorite writers and mentor texts as we read like writers. Thank you for mentoring me!
