Commenting Challenge

The winner of this giveaway will be announced on Tues., 3/27/12.

If you’ve been participating in 5th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge for at least 20 of the past 25 days, then you may participate in this commenting challenge, which will give you a chance to win a copy of the final book I’m giving away today.  Heinemann is sponsoring a giveaway of  Lessons from a Writer’s Life: Readings and Resources for Teachers and Students by Judith Ortiz Cofer.

Giveaway Specifics (Please read carefully!):

This giveaway is a COMMENTING CHALLENGE.  Therefore, you should keep track of the blogs you comment on all day today through tomorrow (12:00 p.m. EDT on Mon., 3/26/12).  Once you’re finished commenting, please come back to THIS post and leave your name and/or the username you’ve been using for the SOLSC, your blog URL, and the exact number of blogs you’ve commented over the course of 36 hours.

The person who comments on the most blogs will win a copy of this book.  (I am asking for everyone’s good faith participation when it comes to reporting the number of comments you have left on other slicers’ blogs.)   If there are two or more people who left the same number of comments, then I will draw the winner’s name out of a hat.

When you leave your comment on this post by noon tomorrow, it must look like this (customized with your information, of course) in order for your entry to count:

Name:  Stacey Shubitz/User Name for SOLSC: Stacey

My blog URL for the SOLSC: http://reflectionsofamommy.wordpress.com

I commented on (number) posts from 3/25 – 26/12.

Please do not leave the link to your slice of life story here.  Please go to Ruth’s call for slices for today or tomorrow (depending on what day you’re reading this post)] to leave the unique URL to your slice.

I commented on 17 posts since yesterday morning, which is a low for me. I will say that I have commented on everyone’s blog, which was a goal for me through this challenge. Comments are the fuel to the writing, something we need to remember when working with our students. Thank you to everyone who has commented. You uplift me. It is my hope that my comments uplift and encourage.

  2. I DID IT! It become an almost psychotic obsession, but in the end, an amazing blessing, which will be today’s post later on I read and commented on EVERY post in the comment section. However, by tally mark, I came up with 140 posts/comments. The ticker says there are 145, so either I messed up my tallies, or there were some comments not attached to links. Seriously – there were some AMAZING posts yesterday, and now that I have read them ALL, I am going to have to figure out a way to internalize the fact that that is just not a realistic (or healthy) option for every day in the month of March. But – it kept me on the couch, which is what the doctor ordered, and gave me potential to grow in a million ways! Woot!

I commented on 140 posts from yesterday morning to 10:30 this morning. (I had 115 in when I fell asleep last night.)

GREAT challenge, albeit a bit risky! haha!

  4. Dear Stacey,
I’m not sure how much commenting I’ll get done in the next 36 hours, but I certainly can attest to the power in commenting. One of my students wrote a telling piece in his SOL journal on Friday which spurred me to write today’s slice. Thank you so much to both of you for hosting this challenge. It has been very fun as well as insightful. I’m going to be a little sad when it’s over. I guess it will motivate me to share on Tuesdays. 🙂

    1. @Julie: I completely understand. Life has a funny way of getting in the way. We got home late from NY and then my daughter didn’t want to go to sleep ’til just now (10 p.m. EDT). I still have a bunch of things to do before heading to bed. Believe me, I completely get it. If you can only get to three, then so be it. That’s what you can do.
