Last week, I had a lot of trepidation about putting a piece of writing out into the world. Crafting the writing was easy.  Sharing it took a lot of courage.  My writing was met by some of the most caring comments I’ve ever received since I started sharing slice of life stories back in 2008.  I am so grateful to all of the people who took the time to craft a caring comment in response to my writing.

As you know, feedback fuels writers.  The SOLSC isn’t just about writing your own stories down on the page.  It’s also about commenting on other people’s stories.  Therefore, I want to challenge you to give as many comments as you can give daily to other writers.  I know it’s time-consuming so only give as many as you can.  (If time is an issue, perhaps it’s best to set aside 15 – 30 minutes daily just for commenting.)

If you’ve been participating in 6th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge, then you may participate in the commenting challenge I’m issuing today.  A copy of Interactive Modeling by Margaret Berry Wilson is up for grabs for the person* who comments on the most slice of life stories in the course of the next 36 hours.   • Please keep track of the blogs you comment on all day today through tomorrow (11:59 p.m. EST on Sat., 3/9/13).  Once you’re finished commenting, please come back to THIS post and leave your name and/or the username you’ve been using for the SOLSC, your blog URL, and the exact number of blogs you’ve commented over the course of 36 hours.  (NOTE: If you visit a blog today and tomorrow, please count that blog only once in your tally.)

  • The person who comments on the most blogs will win a copy of this book.  I am asking for everyone’s good faith participation when it comes to reporting the number of comments you have left on other slicers’ blogs.

    I commented on a ridiculously few number of posts from 3/8 – 3/9/13, the number is irrelevant! I just wanted to say that I am impressed with how many new slicers and blogs there are and I am trying very, very hard to post on blogs that are unfamiliar to me, in an effort to reach out to “newbies” in the way that folks reached out to me last year. This slicing is fun! Thanks, again, Ruth and Stacey!!

    I am quite sure this challenge sabotages me every year! This is the second year in a row that I ended up sick and having to cancel all of my plans for the weekend, leaving me on the couch. Thankfully, reading blog posts gave me something to do ALL day. Last year I read EVERY post. This year? WAY TOO many posts to get through in one day. Crazy! but Crazy GOOD! I read some AMAZING things today! Now I am wondering about spending my time reading posts, rather than writing them! 🙂

      That is impressive. I have to agree with you. Last year was my first year to join Slice of Life and I worried I wouldn’t be able to write every day. As the challenge continued I realized how many blogs I enjoyed visiting to read what had been written. Day after day the number grew. This year when I decided to join the challenge again I knew the challenge wouldn’t be the writing, but instead making the time to read all of the blogs I wanted to read. Like you, I hope every night to spend more time reading than writing.

    I am away on retreat this weekend and am choosing not to comment, and only place my posting up sometime tomorrow, to honor the silence. I will comment on many posts on Sunday–after the challenge, but because I know the value of response (partially because of the wonderful responses I have given and received. Thank you for reminding us about the importance of feedback.

  14. Sounds like fun, but honestly, although I read many of the slices, I usually comment on wordpress since it’s so much easier than navigating through the e blog sites! Sorry!!
