On Monday, Stacey wrote about 5 tips for checking writer’s notebooks more efficiently. I especially appreciated Stacey’s tip of reading no more than three entries for each student. If students flag their entries ahead of time as Stacey suggested, the process will be a breeze!
On Tuesday, I blogged about streamlining the process of commenting on student writing. Tip #4 seemed to resonate with readers. Don’t cover student writing with red ink; limit your comments to 2 compliments and 2 suggestions for improvement.
Then, on Wednesday, Tara wrote a thoughtful post about using checklists throughout a unit of study, and even beyond. If you are a fan of rubrics, you will want to make sure to read Tara’s post!
Thursday brought us a post by Betsy about picture books that pack a punch. Betsy beautifully described six picture books to use in a writing workshop… and it’s not too late to enter the giveaway!
Beth’s post on Friday contained practical tips on how to wrap up a unit of study. Her tip to start your next study with new folders will help eliminate all the paper clutter in your classroom.
Anna wrapped up the week on Saturday with a post about using the Qualities of Good Writing to assess student writing. Anna clearly explains the two major qualities to look for, and you won’t want to miss her suggestion about using the subcategories to plan for instruction.
